happy halloween

for halloween this year, avery was a dinosaur. she loves dinosaurs! she has dinosaur pj's, a dinosuar chair, dinosaur stickers, and dinosaur stuffed animals. it's only fitting that she now has a dinosaur costume! she has worn it many times before and after halloween. i definetly got my money's worth...$4 on ebay :)

carly was a panda. she was a very cuddly panda and i could not help but squeal every time i put that little hat on her. i got the hat from angrybaby.etsy.com and it was perfect! i made the rest of the costume from a onesie and tights (it was super easy). it was amazing to me how bulky baby costumes are. they can't be comfortable...think about avery the squid her first year. she wore that costume for pictures only!



besides the pumpkin patches, we went to 2 carnivals. james had to work on halloween so our friend matt came over to help with trick or treating in the neighborhood. there weren't very many houses with lights on, but avery had a good time. when we got home, she seperated the candy and helped pass out candy to the trick or treaters that came to our house.

pumpkin patch

in the spirit of being a month behind...here are some happenings from october!

we went to 3 different pumpkin patches. the first one was in grapevine with my parents and annabelle. avery and annabelle had fun climbing on the tractors and sitting on the little benches they had everywhere. this one was small compared to the others. it was the perfect size for 2 little girls to run and play.




the next weekend, after it finally stopped raining, we went to the big pumpkin patch in flower mound. it was very muddy and avery was only interested in the bounce house. this is the same one we went to last year. there is a lot to do and see. after bouncing for about 20 minutes, avery had a good time.


the weekend before halloween, we decided to try another pumpkin patch. this one was in argyle. it was far away and you had to pay to get in, but there was a really neat train that you ride around the whole place. avery and carly both liked the train ride.




i think we have seen enough pumpkins to last until next october.

two months...three months...

carly had her 2 month check up on october 8. she was 9 lbs 12 oz and 23 inches long. that puts her at 25% for weight and 50% for height.

in her second month, carly learned to smile and kick her feet. 2 of her favorite things to do! she started to notice the toys hanging on her carseat and she would bat at them. she smiles at avery, she smiles when her diaper is changed and she smiles when she wakes up. she is a very happy baby.

at 3 months, carly is able to grab toys and hold them. she still likes to smile and kick her feet. she started laughing this weekend. it is just a little chuckle and she has to be really excited, but it is a laugh for sure! she is starting to put her hand in her mouth and look for her thumb. i wonder if she will figure that one out and be a thumb sucker? she also likes to look in the mirror and take baths with her big sister. one thing she does not like is tummy time! she just kicks and grunts when we try to put her on her stomach. we'll keep trying! i don't know for sure, but i think she is around 11 or 11.5 pounds now. she has the nickname "carlygirl" i don't know who started saying it in the house first, but we have all caught on and it is fun to sing!

we tried to get carlygirl to laugh...instead avery laughed.

road trip

on september 27, i packed up the girls for an impromptu trip to austin. my parents were going down for a few days and james was working a double shift so i decided saturday morning to just go for it. i put a movie on for avery in the car and carly was sleeping. the drive down was not too bad. i was expecting much worse.

avery was so excited to see baby ried (and play with his toys).

carly had some good cuddle time with aj.

we walked to the neighborhood playground. this was reid's first time on the swing.

taylor and gary came over to visit on sunday afternoon before we went home.

the drive home was a breeze. avery was so worn out from the walk to the park, and then playing at the park that she slept almost the whole way. carly loves the car so she was sleeping, too. it was a great trip and i am glad we went for a little visit. i hope we get back there soon!

and...i just love baby reid.

in the spirit of playing catch up, here are some of my favorites from the last 6 weeks or so.
rachael, doug and baby max brought over some yummy dinner for us. max was not impressed.

september...i missed you!

i do not have a single blog post from september. we were busy at the flores house. it has been quite an adjustment for all of us, but i think now we are getting in to the routine and figuring each other out.

carly is a very sweet baby! she started smiling at 6 weeks and smiles all the time now.

avery loves being a big sister. she is very helpful and likes to open the flaps to the diaper and try to shove pacifiers in carly's mouth. she pulls her ride on fire-truck over to stand on it and peek in carly's crib. in the car, if carly starts to cry, avery will sing the abc's really loud. if that doesn't work she says "he want some music on." followed by "ooohh, coo carly." avery loves to hold her and lets us know when carly is hungry, sleepy, sad, happy, smiling, or crying. it is good to have a big sister watch out for you :)

i went back to work on september 17 and carly went to my friend, jacquelyn's house. it was so hard to go back to work and leave that sweet baby...but i know she is in good hands and gets lots of love all day! here she is on her first day.

the rest of the month is basically a blur...we are doing good to get all our shoes and socks on and out the door. i know it will get easier. i am trying to enjoy this time as much as possible. i am lucky to have 2 sweet girls and a fantastic husband!

my good friend misti took some fantastic pictures of carly when she was almost a month old. her photography is always amazing! her studio is called pink fly photography. she has taken pictures of avery too and every time i am always so impressed by her talent!
