well...avery!

how to entertain a two year old...

being pregnant in the summer is hot...being pregnant in the summer with a two year old is work. not just for me but for james, too! we have tried everything we can think of to keep this little ball of energy entertained. the goal every day this summer was to wear avery out. we would usually wear out before she did. james took her to the pool about twice a week, i took her to yoga, and we took turns at gymnastics. there were dog walks, play groups, and trips to the playground mixed in. when carly came along, it was even more important to keep her busy. she is a high energy little girl and as we get further into the "twos" we have learned it is better for her to use the energy for good rather than evil...

now, the last week before school and exhausted with a newbaby at home we set out for a day at the mall with one goal...wear avery out!

after playing in the little play area, we had lunch and then avery and james rode the carousel. then james took her ice skating. they went around twice, the second time james carried her. she had a great time was asleep before we left the parking lot.

mission accomplished.

avery's first haircut

we decided it was time for a haircut before avery started back at school. she was a bald baby until she was about 18 months old.

now at a little over 2, it had gotten pretty long in the back.

once she got in the chair she was very quiet...it was a rare thing for her to be at a loss for words. she did not say a word the entire haircut.

with shorter hair, my baby is looking more like a big girl.

the first week

the first week at home has been good. carly has been very busy sleeping and getting some good cuddle time with the family!

avery loves to hold carly on her lap.

carly had high bilirubin levels so we went to a few dr. appointments and she had her weight checked and her blood drawn a lot :(

she had to stay on this little bed for a few days to help with the jaundice.

someone should teach me how to flip these pictures! i cannot figure it out, but this is what she looked like. she tolerated the bed ok the first night, and then she decided she didn't like it. i didn't really like it either because i couldn't hold her or cuddle her unless she was nursing.

by wednesday she was doing much better, gaining weight and her levels were down.

our pink baby has gotten plenty of sleep!

we have so many family and friends that have come by to meet baby carly. we are thankful for all the love she is getting...and the food is good too :) thanks to all!!!
