Avery got a sprinkler for her birthday from Aunt Taylor. She was ready to go outside and play before 9am. As she says, "I'm so exciting!"

We set it up in the yard.

Avery put on her own sunscreen.

Then she sat on her towel and drank some juice.

She did not like getting wet.

She ran through once...maybe twice.

Then she got an idea.

Now she could check the strawberries.

I put the sprinker in the garden. At least we could water the tomatoes.

Avery did some quality control

and found a ladybug.

Carly Crawls

Carly started crawling on May 3 with two little scoots and one big stretch. We would try to put toys out in front and she would just lay down and stretch as far as she could. She is much more efficient now. I love how she has her legs tucked under and her toes touching. It looks just like she is doing balasana (child's pose) in yoga. By the end she is out of breath. That was a lot of work!

happy 3rd birthday avery jane

For Avery's 3rd birthday, we did an "animal art party." This is the first year that she has been super excited about her birthday. Starting in February with my birthday she would ask, "Who's birthday next?" After that was Reid, then Daddy, then finally Avery!

When I asked her what kind of party she wanted she said "an animal party." What kind of animal? "wi-i-ld animals!" She was so excited to have her friends come over. For weeks leading up to it she would talk about a little friend from school or the neighborhood and say. "He can come to a birthday at my house." When people asked what she wanted for her birthday she would say, "Cookies!"

The weather was perfect, which is a good thing because we would not have all fit inside the house!

We had different areas that kids could paint rocks,

watercolor, do sidewalk chalk and sidewalk paint.

We had hamburgers, hot dogs and of course cupcakes!

We also had a lion pinata!

Avery liked her presents...and all the cards with stickers :)

Reid got in on the present-opening action.

Daddy took a little nap while Carly played.

Avery had a little party at school during snack time. She gave each friend a cookie lollipop and then showed pictures of herself from when she was a baby until now.

We are so proud of our big girl!
